Una Casita
A volunteer housing-matching platform built after the August 2026 earthquake in Colombia, connecting people offering a place to stay with people who lost their homes.
Problem
After the earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10, 2026 and destroyed large parts of my city, people who lost their homes had no fast, trustworthy way to find people offering a room or a house to rent nearby.
Solution
Volunteered to build and run a simple listings platform end to end: a React/Vite/TypeScript frontend on Firebase, with Google Cloud Functions handling scheduled cleanup jobs and email notifications — so hosts can list a space in minutes and displaced families can find one without relying on scattered social media posts.

Details
Still active and maintained as a volunteer effort — new listings keep coming in as more people need housing in the aftermath of the earthquake.
